Camilla Fundraises for Chantel’s Place

The Camilla team presents Chantel’s Place with the $600 cheque. In celebration of International Women’s Day, Camilla Care Community in Mississauga raised $600 for Chantel’s Place.

Money was raised through a breakfast sale, with the original goal of raising $500. The response was spontaneous, and by the end of the day the community had far surpassed its goal — members of the Peel Regional Police Community Division even dropped in to participate in the event throughout the day.

As International Women’s Day is about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action, Camilla used this event to reach out to the wider community, to convey the importance of this year’s theme “Each for Equal”.

For five dollars, staff and residents could choose from a variety of delicious baked treats and hot beverages. The community chose Chantel’s Place because of its significant contribution to women affected by violence.

Residents and team members wore purple and decorated Camilla with beautiful posters and balloons to celebrate the occasion. To add to the festivity, recreation staff placed pictures of famous women around Camilla, along with a synopsis of their contribution to the world.
