Knitting for a good cause

If you need to wear a mask all day, the knitting group at Kensington Place Retirement Residence has you covered. Recently the group knit and donated over 100 mask extenders to seniors and healthcare workers in the community.

“The residents were looking to do something meaningful in a time where really we could do nothing else,” said Danyelle Gatsos, lifestyle consultant at Kensington Place. “They were knitting scarves and hats, and thought what better way to use up all of the scraps then to provide these mask extensions to the heroes in our community.”

The mask extenders, which protect the back of the mask wearer’s ears, were delivered to daycare workers, social workers, seniors in isolation, nurses and local hospitals.

Pictured below are Laura, Rose, and Rachella with some of the mask extenders they knit.
