Sienna Superstars February 2021

Each month, we’re pausing to recognize some of the outstanding team members who work with us. Thank you for the work you do each day. You are all truly heroes.

Care Support Aide at Norfinch Care Community

“Mustering up the courage to be a frontline worker has been my biggest challenge throughout COVID-19. The pandemic has affected us all, but fear won’t continue to scare me away [from] serv[ing] others. As a nurse back in my country, I took an oath to serve and to provide quality service to whoever was in need. Now, as a Care Support Aide, I have the opportunity to help in every way that I can. I help the PSW’s, nurses, and our activation staff to keep residents active. I am now an extension of residents and their relatives by helping out with Skype calls. There is no other place I’d rather be. I am proud to be a frontline worker. I appreciate all the little things and can only hope you will do the same.”

PSW at Spencer House

“Spencer House and I have had a relationship for over 14 years. I have seen a lot, but I could not be more proud to work here than now. Since COVID-19 began, we have been very diligent in keeping everything clean and sanitized... I have learned that working together as a team is always critical, as I appreciate the team I work with. Each one brings something different to the group. One person may be better at doing a resident's hair, while someone else might be good at doing baths. If someone is having a bad day, we rely on each other to help that person get through it. For all teams in Sienna, the stronger you are as a unit, the easier it becomes to get through COVID together!”

Chef at Deerwood Creek Care Community

“You have to have a good mindset as it sets the tone for your whole day and week. As a chef for the past 17 years, this is something I have learned. Every day I enjoy boosting the morale of others by getting to know what the residents like or by sending my colleagues positive messages of cheer through the new CREW app. The team I work with is fearless and has taught me more about sanitation, safety and how quickly COVID can spread. For this, I am thankful [for] this meticulous mentality... I always say that there are two types of people: the ones who are jealous of Deerwood Dietary, and those who are really jealous of Deerwood Dietary! Not all heroes wear capes, but the team I work with does.”
