“Laughter is the best medicine; most seniors have a sense of humour!”

It’s one of many quotes collected by the programing team at Island Park Retirement Residence in Campbellford, ON. The team began collecting residents’ quotes a few weeks ago as part of their new program, Wise Words Wednesdays.

“We thought it was great way to show our families, friends and the community that we are all doing well,” said Krista Hazelwood, lifestyle consultant at Island Park. “I think [the residents] are honoured and humbled to be asked [for their advice].”

The team usually asks residents open-ended questions, but plans to extend the program around special holidays, such as back-to-school.
